Wearable World Inc. Announces World's First Tech Incubator / Accelerator Dedicated Exclusively to Developing Smartwatch and iOS Applications

San Francisco-based Wearable World Inc. is currently accepting applications for the inaugural Wearable World Labs Class focused on Smartwatch and iOS Applications, which will begin January 2015

Wearable World, Inc., the San Francisco-based media and ventures company, today announced that it has created the world’s first tech incubator class dedicated exclusively to developing Smartwatch and iOS applications. Prospective entrepreneurs and developers can submit their ideas now to be a part of the inaugural class that kicks off in January 2015.

Wearable World Labs, founded in 2013, is the world’s first accelerator/incubator blend solely focused on wearable technologies and the Internet of Things (IOT). Labs Class companies are provided with the tools, technology, network, and mentorship to take innovation to a mainstream market. Click here to view the Wearable World Labs portfolio of companies.

"A core strength of ours is application development. Our mission from the start was to foster the growth of the wearable ecosystem. We saw the market developing early, built for it, and have put ourselves in a position to help others succeed in it."

Redg Snodgrass, CEO and Co-Founder, Wearable World

In its first year of operation, Wearable World Labs achieved a 90% fund rate, and a 100% Indiegogo crowdfunding rate. Its first class raised more than $5 million in investor backing, and more than $2.5 million from crowdfunding. Indiegogo startup star and Wearable World Labs alumnus SKULLY is currently breaking crowdfunding records, zooming past their funding goal in 6 minutes and surpassing the $1.8 million mark with 30 days left in the campaign.

“A core strength of ours is application development,” says Redg Snodgrass, CEO and Co-Founder of Wearable World. “Our mission from the start was to foster the growth of the wearable ecosystem. We saw the market developing early, built for it, and have put ourselves in a position to help others succeed in it.”

The launch of the Apple Watch, combined with products such as Google Glass, Pebble and Moto 360, are raising consumer and developer interest in wearable technologies. Some of the potential technologies Wearable World class participants may focus on include apps to support financial services, fashion and education.

"On the software side of our industry we've been missing a key component, the ability to develop for iOS,” says Kyle Ellicott, CTO and Co-Founder of Wearable World.  “The release of WatchKit and the previous releases of HealthKit and HomeKit, open up the possibilities of new product types never yet seen before. That's why we're opening up an additional class for Winter 2015 to focus solely on the development and integration of these types of products into consumers’ lives."
