The Bridge Hotel continues to "jazz up" summer nights with the popular Jazz, Bossa & Blues Series Live at the Top of the Bridge. Now a few weeks into the series, the top names in South Florida Jazz are coming together on select Wednesdays and fans are filling the penthouse level of the hotel to soak in the great music and the incredible views. Beatriz Malnic, heralded with the Brazilian Press Award as the "Best Brazilian Singer in the United States," kicked off Jazz, Bossa & Blues with a bang on June 1st and will be back by popular demand on July 20th. On June 8th, Nicole Henry played to a packed house, having just flown in from New York where she was a guest soloist at a Friars Club event honoring Connie Francis.

"We have had a good turnout with such a positive response from audiences," commented series producer Joseph Mirrione. "It's unusual to have this caliber of talent appearing in what is usually considered to be the 'off-season'. People recognize that and they are coming out in record numbers. They love it! Wednesday is the new Friday!"

The series continues June 22nd with multi-instrumentalist Anthony Corrado. Joined by a talented trio of musicians, Corrado is practically a one-man-band himself, playing tenor, alto and soprano sax, clarinet, flute, Irish flute, guitar, bass and trumpet. Corrado's show features the music of Jazz legends such as John Coltrane and Thelonius Monk as well as the more contemporary sounds of artists like Chuck Mangione, George Benson and Chick Corea. June 29th features sax legend Turk Mauro and July 6th brings Jorge Garcia and Grammy Award winner Federico Britos.

Carmen's, the "Top of the Bridge" venue which operates as a full-service restaurant Thursday through Sunday, has transformed on Wednesday nights into an intimate New York-style upscale lounge, featuring a full bar, sumptuous small plates and a sweeping panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and Boca marinas. Attendees can mix and mingle with other music lovers on the exclusive penthouse level of the Bridge Hotel every Wednesday night through the summer.

About Turk Mauro:
The New York Post calls him "passionate and swinging." One of the greatest saxophonists of our time comes to the Bridge to perform traditional Jazz, Swing, Be-Bop, Blues and Ballads. Turk Mauro's recording career goes back to 1963, but it was a long association with Count Basie tenor saxophonist Billy Mitchell that led to Mauro taking up the baritone sax, which he played in the big bands of Dizzy Gillespie (1975) and Buddy Rich (1976-79). In 1981, a group led by Mauro opened New York's now-legendary Blue Note club (where he continues to appear at least once a year). That year, he made his European debut at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Mauro's following in Europe grew, even drawing him to live in Paris for a period of time before returning to South Florida to stay.

About Jorge Garcia & Federico Britos:
Join us for an enchanting marriage of two of the world's finest musicians -Jazz Guitarist extraordinaire Jorge Garcia and Latin Jazz Virtuoso Violinist Federico Britos. All About Jazz said "Guitarist Jorge Garcia brings all the richness of Latin rhythms from his birthplace of Cuba into the fold." New Times Music said "Britos is an artist who clearly went through the line twice when they were handing out talent." Guitarist Jorge Garcia has performed with the likes of Tony Bennett, Richie Cole, Patti Page, Joel Grey, Enrique Iglesias, Trini Lopez, The Drifters, and many more. Federico Britos has served as principal chair, soloist and ultimately Concertmaster with some of the great symphony orchestras of Uruguay, Venezuela, Peru and Cuba. Equally adept at playing classical, jazz, Latin idioms and music for films, over his 50 year career he has performed with such great musicians as Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Woody Herman and Benny Goodman.

About Beatriz Malnic:
Beatriz Malnic appeared on our first opening night and will return on July 20 with guitarist Ivo de Carvalho. (Beatriz sings in both English and Brazilian Portuguese, making a favorite of American audiences.) Prepare to be transported as Beatriz weaves a tapestry of American classics with a Brazilian twist and bossa nova with unparalleled flair. (Of course, you shouldn't be surprised to find a few threads of samba in the evening's blend.) Beatriz has performed and recorded with musical luminaries such as Toquinho, Chico Buarque, Roberto Menescal, Al Di Meola, Nestor Torres and others. She is the featured vocalist on several CDs, including a CD of bossa nova and samba songs that was produced by Roberto Menescal and directed by Nelson Motta for Warner Music of Brazil. Her second CD, Estrada do Sol, was released in 2006. Her first live DVD "Bossa and Blues" was released in December 2010. Ivo de Carvalho has recorded with Joao Gilberto, Maria Carey and Earth, Wind & Fire, among others.
