Westfall Flow Straightener Model 3000 a Repeat Order for Growing Texas Municipality

Bristol, RI, April 12, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Westfall Manufacturing was tasked with developing a flow conditioner for a Texas municipality seeking a scalable solution that would create a high level of metering accuracy with minimal head loss. This particular water facility is anticipating water usage to double by the year 2060. Accurate flow metering is vital for day to day operations and efficiency.  More often than not, the space required for metering accuracy is limited. Valves, elbows and pipe run requirements are a never ending battle due to older installations, terrain, existing structures, and new installations with minimal real estate.

The goal to reduce turbulence for accurate metering is achieved with the Westfall Model 3000 Flow Straightener shown above. This easy to install low maintenance drop-in solution is manufactured using low cost carbon steel and coated with a durable epoxy for long life. Polished inner walls along with engineered tapered and curved vanes are positioned to eliminate swirl and turbulence with minimal fouling and low head loss.

A unique design inspired by the aerodynamics of jet fighter planes, whose geometry has to control turbulence to keep planes aloft, straight and fast. The Westfall patented design creates a fully developed non-swirling flow for accurate measurement. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, the Westfall flow conditioner was able to straighten the flow with minimal head loss after two 90-degree bends and installing a conditioner four diameters away from the second bend. Now tried, proven and field installed.
