Westfall Foundation Launches Inspirational DVD Fitness Campaign to Raise Funds Friedreich's Ataxia
New Campaign Proves that Physical Disability Should Not Impede on Fitness and Overall Wellness
Online, May 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The Westfall Foundation, (http://www.westfallfoundation.org), announced today the launch of their newest outreach campaign titled "Commit To Your Health". With the release of a series of fitness and exercise DVDs, the campaign is geared towards raising awareness for those who suffer from Friedreich's Ataxia, which is a rare inherited disease that causes nervous system damage and movement problems. The Westfall Foundation is dedicated not only to raising awareness but also to funding research for Friedreich's Ataxia through the sales of the DVDs and other 2011 marketing efforts. The rare content within the "Commit To Your Health" DVDs include several exercises to help those with Friedreich's Ataxia.
"Commit To Your Health" is a compilation of everything Kerry Westfall has learned directly from three board certified physicians, himself and his personal trainers in order to live a full life. The lessons within the video are not only applicable to persons with neuromuscular diseases. The wonderful part is that Kerry Westfall himself performs all exercises while in his wheelchair; however he made it a solid point to produce a DVD where people who are not in need of a wheelchair may also perform all exercises. Kerry's main motivation for creating the DVD was the simple fact that he has first handedly witnessed the health benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. Regular exercise not only improves strength, it improves many things in health such as motor function, a persons respiratory and cardiovascular systems, the list simply goes on and on.
"A sad fact is that most people don't do anything to enhance their health due to a lack of time or energy. That is one of the reasons that this DVD is so unique and important" stated Kerry Westfall, founder of the Westfall Foundation. "I, a person with a life shortening muscle disease care about my own health and want to share it with the world".
Kerry Westfall was diagnosed at a young age with the debilitating disease called Friedreich's Ataxia. Friedreich's Ataxia (also called FA or FRDA) is a rare inherited disease that causes nervous system damage and movement problems. Symptoms of FA include pain, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations. Though impaired by this disease and wheelchair bound, having FA did not discourage Kerry from trying to lead a normal life.
