Westwood Free Public Library to Hold 7th Annual Taste of Westwood.

A fundraiser and culinary journey of mouth-watering dishes, fine wines and artisan beers to benefit The Friends of the Library, 501(c)3 nonprofit, and The Westwood Public Library. Ticket holders will taste signature dishes from each establishment, as well as sample top-rated wines from Ventimiglia Vineyards and artisan beers from local craft breweries Defiant Brewery and Cricket Hill Brewery.

The Friends of the Library, 501(c)3 nonprofit, will present the 7th annual “Taste of Westwood” at the Westwood Free Public Library on 49 Park Avenue on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 5 - 8 p.m.

The fundraiser, a food-and-wine-tasting celebration, is made possible by the generosity of over 20 of Westwood’s finest restaurants. Attendees will taste signature dishes from each establishment, as well as sample top-rated wines from Ventimiglia Vineyards and artisan beers from local craft breweries Defiant Brewery and Cricket Hill Brewery.

"Not only is Taste of Westwood an incredible event for foodies and wine connoisseurs in Bergen County, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to raise money for the library, which is the heart of the Westwood community."

Martha Urbiel, Library Director

All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Friends of the Library, the Westwood Public Library and its community programs.

“Not only is Taste of Westwood an incredible event for foodies and wine connoisseurs in Bergen County, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to raise money for the library, which is the heart of the Westwood community,” said Library Director Martha Urbiel. “The money raised at Taste of Westwood will help fund the library’s children’s programs including the visits from the zoo, the math clubs, and art workshops. Without the Friends of the Library we wouldn’t have the rich adult programs either, like our ESL services, lectures, and classes. By purchasing a ticket, you are not only guaranteed a great night of food and fun but you are also supporting our community.”

The event also features a silent auction and a 50/50 on-site raffle.  All items featured in the silent auction are donated by local Westwood businesses with proceeds going directly to the Westwood Public Library. There will be additional giveaways for attendees throughout the event. The Russ DiBona Trio Latin Jazz Band will provide music and entertainment throughout the fundraiser.

“We heard about Taste of Westwood from a councilman and his wife who told us what a great event it is,” said Jacob Yoon, head chef at Bop N Sushi, one of the newest restaurants to donate their time (and food) to Taste of Westwood. “We are serving Seafood Pancakes, honey citron tea, and Bibimbap which is a very popular Korean dish cooked in a stone bowl and served with a soy dressing or a hot sauce.  We are very excited to be part of it this year!”

The event will cost $50 per person ($60 at the door or a package of four tickets for $190) and will be held at The Westwood Public Library. Tickets can be purchased by calling (201) 664-0583 or at the front desk of the Westwood Public Library.
