WFWO and UTIU Call for Action for Education for All

Online, July 6, 2011 (Newswire.com) - To respond to the on going Substantive Session of High Segment 2011 Annual Ministerial Review of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) focus Education and for five key objectives are identified for the 2011 AMR: We call for commitment to education from the highest levels of government and international bodies to stay on track to meet internationally agreed education goals.

The World For World Organization (WFWO), an NGO International focusing on the Eight Millennium Development Goals in particular Goal (2) and International Telematic University (UTIU), world leader an in particularly on the education distance learning and knowledge exchange for students, in the area of Europe, Mediterranean universities networks, via internet portal and television on RAI Satellite, signed a partnership agreement for mutual cooperation in various fields to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals objectives in the area of education Goal (2), and also are pleased to announce the establishment of WFWO/UTIU Global Academic Partnership Program Branch (GAPPB) will focus on Education's and Training Programs for the Improvement of Global Partnership Programs (IGPP), and to establish international relations with universities, institutions network to Improve of Education and Training Programs at all levels, with the support of the WFWO and its partners, to assist colleges and universities in developed and developing countries and sustaining institutional partnerships with their counterparts around the world to contribute to United Nations Millennium Development Goals 2. The partnership of the parties will move forward to contribute to the Educations for all activities at al levels nationally and internationally, in accordance with the vision and objectives by all to provide excellent social services based on the principle of participation and cooperation to guarantee progress and prosperity to Youth issues, and to support and strengthen the relations and achieve common interests.

The Executive President of WFWO, Cherif Sidi, said that the Education is a fundamental factor in achieving success and growth in different aspects of life. Education equips people with the knowledge to achieve all of the Millennium Development Goals by providing the skills to increase income, create employment opportunities, reduce hunger and poverty and enhance socio-economic development. As this year's theme of the High-Level Segment (HLS) of the ECOSOC Substantive Session in Geneva is education. The 2011 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) will be held on 4-8 July 2011 at Les Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, will focus on the theme of "Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to education". The theme aims to bring governments and civil society together to assess progress and challenges to ensure the MDG-2 is met by 2015. The HLS/AMR 2011, ECOSOC is opportunity to promote events on the national, regional and global level. The activities include a philanthropy meeting on "partnering with the philanthropic community to promote education for all", global preparatory meetings. The e-discussions focus on "Building a future for today's youth: improving access to education" and on "Education: Closing the Gap." The e-discussion on closing the gap will provide an open multi-stakeholder forum for academia, policy-makers and practitioners to discuss the achievement of education and learning for all. The forum also offers stakeholders a venue to formulate concrete, actionable recommendations for consideration by the ECOSOC HLS/AMR 2011.

Rector of UTIU Prof. Maria Amata Garito, said that the higher education institutions are increasingly seeking out partnerships with counterparts in other countries to enhance academic collaboration, expand curricular offerings, advance joint research, and prepare trough new technologies to improve and implement the role of new technologies mechanism for the long distance learning for the service of the education and professional training for students, including cross-cultural knowledge tools needed around the world However, many institutions face significant challenges in navigating education systems in other countries, identifying appropriate partners and developing effective institutional partnership strategies.

Consolidating many new and existing activities, such as the Launch of WFWO/UTIU/Global Academic Partnership Program Branch (GAPPB) will help students and faculty and administrators, policymakers and practitioners to address these challenges by providing the following resources and initiatives:
(a) Leading of WFWO/UTIU higher education leaders Team to other countries where institutions are seeking partnerships;
(b) WFWO/UTIU, study tours for higher education administrators and experts from around the world to enrich their understanding of WFWO/UTIU higher education's diversity and bring them together with potential partners;
(c) Providing advice and liaison services through GAPPB's network of international offices and partners;
(d) Collecting and disseminating best practices in developing institutional linkages and programs;
(e) Convening conferences and symposia of international educators and other leaders in the field;
(f) Producing timely policy research papers on critical issues such as MDGs educational exchange, higher education in the Middle East, and transatlantic joint and double degree programs;
(g) Providing services to newly established academic institutions around the world;
(h) The GAPPB will focus on Education's and Training Programs for the Improvement of Global Partnership Programs (IGPP), and to establish international relations with universities, institutions network to Improve of Education and Training Programs at all levels world-wide, this initiative of WFWO/UTIU, GAPPB's for International Partnerships in Higher Education, Training that seeks to increase the number of international partnerships between higher education institutions, universities networks worldwide.
