What Every University President Should Know Before, During and After the Search Process

Jennifer Muller, Vice President, Academic Keys and Cheryl Hyatt, Partner, Hyatt-Fennell Executive Search are partnering to deliver a presentation at the American Council on Education's (ACE) 97th Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held March 14 -17, 2015 at the Washington Hilton, Washington DC.

Ms. Muller and Ms. Hyatt are presenting on the focus topic: What Every University President Should Know Before, During and After the Search Process.  Their presentation is scheduled for Sunday, March 15th at 4:15 PM and is open to all attendees.

According to studies done by ACE, between 2007 – 2011, nearly 80% of presidential searches were conducted by executivesearch firms resulting in 61% of presidents getting written contracts. The majority of presidents sought counsel citing colleagues or family as their advisers. Nearly 30% sought no advice.

Others had not received full awareness of all institutional challenges, financial conditions or expectations of the president.

This seminar serves to educate prospective presidents about the entire search process. Learn how to standout as a candidate, understand the qualities of a good advisor, how many advisors are ideal, and what questions to ask the hiring institution.

These are the expected outcomes:

What is the best way to interact with a search firm?

  • How to get the most out of a search firm.
  •  How to benefit from a search firm.
  • How to interact with a search firm.

The importance of advisers.

  • What qualifies someone to be an adviser?
  • How many advisers are needed and why.

Interview questions.

  • Frequently asked questions.
  • Questions candidates wish they asked.

If you are attending the ACE Annual Meeting, be sure to join this session for valuable insights.
