What You Should Know When Purchasing a Dust Collector

Where and how a dust collecting system is installed in your factory or workshop is equally important and above all your responsibility.

A few weeks ago, we mentioned to you the importance of understanding to what level your supplier of wood dust collecting equipment complies with the regulations in place - NFPA being the reference in North America.

It is also crucial to understand that the manufacturer of dust collectors is responsible solely for the compliance of its equipment. Where and how a dust collecting system is installed in your factory or workshop is equally important and above all your responsibility.

BELFAB open-type dust collectors are designed to comply with NFPA 664 regulations permitting indoor installation of adequately designed open-type wood dust collection systems that produce a maximum of 5000cfm and to which no mechanically fed machines, such as abrasive sanders and moulders, are installed.

We strongly advise you to consult NFPA regulations for more details as well as your federal, state and local authorities to verify all the governing codes and regulations in place in your locality before purchasing, installing and operating a dust collector in your facilities.

Although our product managers will not be able to tell you what regulations to follow concerning installation, please do hesitate to ask for advice when contacting BELFAB for your next project.
