What's The Benefit? Inc. Produces Broadway Benefit At The Stephen Sondheim Theatre To End Bullying

March 19th, 2012, Curtain at 8pm. What's The Benefit? inc. has announced that they will produce their 2nd Broadway benefit-this time for Operation Respect, an educational advocacy organization headed by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary.

In 2010, What's The Benefit? inc. produced KEEPERS at New York City's legendary Studio 54 Theatre in support of Spence Chapin Adoption Services.

This year's benefit will feature an original, fantastical-rock musical titled WEAKER PEOPLE... A DANGEROUS NOTION, which unapologetically addresses the realities of bullying in our education system and in our society. There will also be a book signing at the theatre with Peter Yarrow and complimentary food sponsored by Pret-A-Manger.

Operation Respect's "Don't Laugh At Me" Program is used in 22,000 schools throughout the world where it focuses on "assuring each child and youth a respectful, safe and compassionate climate of learning where their academic, social and emotional development can take place free of bullying, ridicule and violence."

"We are thrilled to be working with Peter Yarrow and Operation Respect on our second Broadway benefit. What's The Benefit? inc. felt compelled to throw our support behind their cause and encourage a discrimination-free learning environment. More specifically, we have been inspired by Peter's commitment to instigating change through love and artistic expression-a commitment that reflects our own mission," said Co-Executive Director Paul D. Cloeter.

Molly Blau, also Co-Executive Director states, "We are unique in what we do. The arts are an amazingly effective tool for connecting and changing the world, and WEAKER PEOPLE...A DANGEROUS NOTION delineates the second time What's The Benefit? has produced a high-profile, Broadway show directly relating to a charitable organization."

WEAKER PEOPLE...A DANGEROUS notion will be directed by Nicco Franklin. "I'm excited to show the world how easily we can stop bullying in our schools and society-it's simple. The tragedy is that people are more often concerned with being right than they are with loving each other. We want to change that."

Doors open at 7pm for a 1-hour cocktail reception with complimentary food and drinks.

Tickets for the event are $70 ($50 for groups of 6 or more) and $40 for students. VIP tickets - $150 - include special seating and an after-show party at Peter Yarrow's home.
