Keon Center, a non-profit agency certified by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, is hosting its First Annual Golf Outing on Monday, July 16th (rain date is July 17th) at the Hollow Brook Country Club in Cortlandt Manor, New York.
"The event is a benefit to both the agency and the people involved," stated William Melville, Keon Center's Executive Director. "It gives us a chance to show the public our programs and services that we offer to disabled consumers and shows the cooperation we have with the local business partners, such as those who are participating as sponsors".
The proceeds will not only allow local businesses to participate in goodwill activities but also help to raise monies for Keon to service the developmentally disabled community. Some of the services they provide include: employment skills, Medicare service coordination and after-hours recreational programs. To increase the level of awareness of this event, Keon has invited special guests; one is movie actor, Michael Rispoli from the show "Magic City" and another is former Giants Howard Cross. Being a supporter of Keon for years, Rispoli stated that "Having a company that secures work for people with developmental issues, can give them a sense of pride and accomplishment. This is a great thing for the Hudson Valley community." Other sports celebrities along with well-known restaurant professionals will get a chance to golf side-by-side for this worthy cause.
Keon Center has been servicing the developmentally disabled since its incorporation in 1954. They have developed many program changes over the years to meet the changing needs of their consumers. One of their goals is their commitment to developing services that are driven towards future growth. Their dedicated staff strives towards instilling a high level of independence and autonomy for their disabled consumers.
