Why Simple Golf Swing Is Really Not Easy

Most recreational golf players including the ones with fairly low golf handicaps do not really understand what it takes to execute an effective swing. Here is why simple golf swing is really not easy and what should be done about it.

Swinging the golf club has been the dream of all aspiring golfers. Let us look closely into the key features of a simple yet great swing.

1. Balance

Balance should be the first and immediate priority.

It is important to a great swing. It ought to be among the first priorities during golf training. Balance normally begins with a great set-up with the following fundamentals:

1. Head is at the back of the ball.

2. Back shoulder is a bit lower than the front.

3. Both shoulders should be placed in parallel, left of target.

4. Hands are placed just inside the front leg.

5. Knees are partially bent

6. Feet are a bit wider than shoulder width.

That is plenty to think about. More importantly, keep practising until the muscle memory is developed so as to to play golf naturally well.

A solid takeaway is the other factor of a great swing. Arms should stay ahead of the chest. Knees should be more or less adjusted. The front knee should be pointing towards the ball. Hands and shoulders needs to be in co-ordination. A great takeaway creates the next part of an effective golf swing, a tight coil around the tip of the swing.

Golf professionals realize that real power is from from the upper body rolling over the resistance of the lower body and is dependable on great footwork.

They also ensure their left heel to be placed on the backswing and press forth their right heel on the downswing. Do this the other way round if you are left-handed.

Golfers tend to raise their left heel on the backswing and make sure their right heel being placed upon impact. This is not correct. Instead learn and develop proper footwork from experienced golfers so as to have extended and more precise shots.

The final component of a simple and effective golf swing is having solid impact. In order to achieve that, the back shoulder needs to be lower than the front. Front shoulder, arm and hip needs to be in a straight line.

The hands should be in similiar position that they were at address. Front wrist placed flat and both hands guiding the club head into the ball. Doing this helps to transfer weight from the right to the left foot.

To recap a great golf swing, it is moving backwards then forward. The front knee plays the role of the hub of both turns.

Though simple golf swing is really not easy, it is not impossible to learn and execute. It also depends on each individual's speed and level of understanding.
