Winnipeg Radio Host Nominated For "Broadcaster Of The Year" Award

A Winnipeg Internet radio broadcaster has been nominated for a broadcaster of the year award in the American Smooth Jazz Awards.

Winnipeg-based smooth jazz radio broadcaster Ted Hasiuk has been nominated for a 2010 American Smooth Jazz Award in the category of Internet Broadcaster of the Year.

Hasiuk has been broadcasting smooth jazz on his Cafe Jazz radio program for over a decade in his home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Cafe Jazz first hit the airwaves in 1997 in Winnipeg. Over the years, the show was picked up outside of Winnipeg, branching out to Toronto, Southern Ontario, upstate New York and Missouri. In 2002, Cafe Jazz began broadcasting over the Internet, garnering an international audience. As of June 2010, Cafe Jazz is now carried on 30 terrestrial and internet stations around the world with affiliates in Canada, the USA, the UK, Chile, Taiwan, New Zealand, & Tenerife in The Canary Islands.

Hasiuk has been nominated three times for the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, in 2006, 2008 and 2009. This is his first nomination outside of Canada.

The winners of the Smooth Jazz Awards will be selected through public internet voting on the awards website at www.americansmoothjazzawards.com and will be announced on October 29, 2010, in Chicago at the American Smooth Jazz Awards.
