Wishlings Coming True on Kickstarter

Denver, Colorado, USA, April 1, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Sisters Allison and Sarah Whelan launched their Kickstarter campaign today to publish their first children’s picture book, Wishlings.

“Wishlings is a magical story with a simple message—that anyone can wish and, with a little support, a wish can be achieved,” said author, Sarah Whelan, who wrote the first draft of the book in a college physics class. “I was thinking about that children’s rhyme, Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, and started thinking about wishes actually traveling to stars.”

She scribbled out the first draft in one class period and then showed it to her sister, Allison, who is a fine artist with a studio in  Denver.

“Allison started illustrating it a few days later,” Sarah said. “I’m fortunate to have such a talented sister.”

Allison, who works with children who have autism at Mortensen Elementary in Littleton, brought her own inspiration to the story.

“Kids with autism are the most honest human beings you’ll ever meet,” Allison said. “They inspire me every day.”

The sisters, who founded Sarison Productions in 2014, are now looking to Kickstarter to help them raise money to publish Wishlings. “We just want to share it with the world,” Sarah said. “That’s our wish.”

The campaign, which will run from March 29th to April 30th, can be found on Kickstarter.

About the Book

Every time a wish is made a wishling is born. With a little help from Spoat (the magical space boat and his crew, the Digi-doos), wishlings travel from planets to moons, visit an alien world or two, and arrive at the Wishing Star, where wishes come true.

The Wishing Star takes the wishlings in her embrace and, with a bit of magic, transforms them into shooting stars that are able to travel very fast and go very far. Now, with a magic all their own, the wishlings return to their wish-makers back home.
