Witches, Winos and Wild Things: A Benefit for the Wildlife Rescue Center

In the spirit of supporting wildlife of all kinds, "Witches, Winos and Wild Things" will feature crowd-favorite material from the BBL playbook alongside spookified sketches and gruesome games, customized for the occasion.

Fresh off of celebrating their one-year anniversary of performing in St. Louis, The Pub Theater Co. and cast of "Bye Bye Liver: The St. Louis Drinking Play" (BBL) have announced an extension to their run at Maggie O'Brien's. The second winter season will kick off on Saturday, October 29 with "Witches, Winos and Wild Things," a costumed benefit for the Wildlife Rescue Center, and will go on to feature shows on select Fridays and Saturdays through December 17.

In the spirit of supporting wildlife of all kinds, "Witches, Winos and Wild Things" will feature crowd-favorite material from the BBL playbook alongside spookified sketches and gruesome games, customized for the occasion. Costume and door prizes will be awarded, and there will be treats (and tricks) to tantalize the sweet tooth of every grown-up ghost and goblin in the house.

Since opening in 1979, the Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) has filled a critical niche in animal care, specializing in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of native Missouri species. In addition to treating tens of thousands of animals over the years, education outreach programs have affected almost as many humans, heightening ecological awareness among adults and children alike.

Visitors to the WRC can expect to see volunteers working with a broad range of injured and orphaned amphibians, birds, mammals and reptiles, from the most common creatures to the highly endangered. The WRC made national news recently when their 15-acre property near Castlewood State Park became the new home of the St. Louis Rally Squirrel, who rose to notoriety by running across home plate during a Cardinals vs. Phillies playoff game.

Maggie O'Brien's features a full menu of Irish and American fare. Late-night party band, Bangers and Mash, provide weekly post-show entertainment, as actors mingle with friends and fans until the wee hours at what boasts itself to be "The city's funniest recurring cast party."
