Witte Museum Wins International Award
SAN ANTONIO, November 28, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The Witte Museum is the recipient of the Silver Award for Best Scenography for a permanent collection in the 7th Edition of the International Design & Communications Awards (IDCA). The Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture won the Gold Award for Best Scenography for a permanent collection.
The award was received by the design firm, Gallagher and Associates, commissioned by the Witte Museum to develop exhibitions in the Susan Naylor Center, which opened March 4, 2017. The galleries and associated Labs include the Valero Great Hall, Naylor Family Dinosaur Gallery, McLean Family Texas Wild Gallery and the Kittie West Nelson Ferguson People of the Pecos Gallery.

The IDCA awards assess communications, design and branding strategies within the arts and museum sphere. IDCA is open to cultural institutions around the world. There are over 350 cultural organizations around the world that take part in the IDCA awards. Other IDCA award recipients this year include the Museum of the Future in the United Emirates, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art-San Francisco and the Museum of Everything in the United Kingdom.

The IDCA Award Ceremony was held in Los Angeles on Nov. 8, 2017, at the 19th Communicating the Museum Conference.
