Online, March 2, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The ability for car insurance providers to differentiate between male and female drivers' was deemed unfair and will be ruled out of the decision making process for car insurers from the end of next year.
The new ruling from the European Court of Justice means that young women will end up facing significantly higher car insurance premiums, some estimations are rises of up to 25%. Car insurance premiums for men could fall by an estimated 10%, these figures csame from the ABI yesterday.
The case challenged the use of statistics based on gender, citing the 'Rights of the Lisbon Treaty, signed under the previous Labour Government.
