World Champion New Orleans Saint Mike McKenzie Hits The Runway To Support Local Designer

Online, April 11, 2011 (Newswire.com) - New Orleans is in a constant rebuilding process and there are several outlets that assist by highlighting local talent in an effort to keep local businesses thriving. Fashion Week New Orleans set it stage last week with a series of local fashion designers showcasing their talents. One designer in particular, My NOLA Soul, had a local celebrity modeling their wares. Mike McKenzie, a member of the World Champion New Orleans Saints Superbowl team, walked the runway in support of the local designer wearing My NOLA Soul's "Tuba Phil" design.

"We were so thrilled to have Mike walk for us, " said Eileen Zachar owner of My NOLA Soul. "He really loves New Orleans and has been extremely supportive of our designs, and helping me to get our message out in order to give back to the New Orleans community."

McKenzie still resides in New Orleans and continues to support local businesses even though he has hung up his cleats for the New Orleans Saints. Mike founded his 34 Ways Foundation back in 2002. Mike, McKenzie, 34 Ways Foundation, and My NOLA Soul have teamed up to continue to give back to the New Orleans community.

My NOLA Soul was founded by Eileen Zachar in an effort to highlight New Orleans culture while giving back to the local community with each sale of it's products. Zachar explains more, "My NOLA Soul is more than just T shirts, it's a movement. We give back with every purchase on a direct level to the community. The goal is to make people more culturally aware of what the city has to offer. Our people and culture is what makes New Orleans what it is and if we let that die, we are just like every other tourist spot. I can't even imagine what the city would be like without it."

The "Tuba Phil" design inspired by Rebirth Brass Band's Phil Frazier gives back to the Roots of Music. My NOLA Soul products are currently available via their website mynolasoul.com, in the Save NOLA store in Jax Brewery, and at the Jazz Exchange store in MSY (New Orleans) Airport.
