World Class Pianist Inspires Happiness at the Scientology Information Center

On March 20th, in honor of the International Day of Happiness, Ms. Kathy Roberts, an accomplished pianist and a Dunedin Bon Appetit fixture since 2002, performed everything from Beethoven to Pink Floyd on the baby grand piano at the downtown Clearwater Scientology Information Center located in the 1918 Clearwater Bank Building. Dozens of residents and neighbors filled the lobby of the historic building to hear Ms. Roberts play their favorite songs.

One resident stated, “It was an absolutely incredible concert, in a beautiful location. I hadn’t visited the building since the Bank of Clearwater was here. It was a wonderful end to the United Nations declared ‘Day of Happiness’. I was so happy throughout it all.”

The event was co-hosted by The Way to Happiness Foundation of Tampa Bay, an organization based on the book, The Way to Happiness, which was written by L. Ron Hubbard in 1982. The Way to Happiness is a non-political, non-religious moral code aimed at restoring common decency. The Director of the Foundation, Ms. Tanya Cranton, shared the positive results from the use of the book with the guests: “Lowered violence and crime, improved behavior of teens towards family, and increased self-esteem are some of the results we have seen when people apply this information to their lives.” Each guest received a copy of the Way to Happiness booklet.

The next scheduled event at the Information center is the monthly Business Reception on April 13th. The center located at 500 Cleveland Street is open daily from 10am to 10pm. For more information or to arrange group visits contact Amber Skjelset at (727) 467-6966 or [email protected]

International Day of Happiness:

In 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which recognized happiness as a “fundamental human goal” and called for “a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and well-being of all peoples”. In 2012 the first ever UN Conference on Happiness took place and the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which decreed that the International Day of Happiness would be observed every year on 20 March. It was celebrated for the first time in 2013.
