World-Renowned Nurseryman, Lecturer, Author and Photographer Raymond Evison to Visit Reynolds Garden Shop June 7
Online, May 27, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Reynolds Garden Shop, located at 201 East Bay Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ, is honored to host world-renowned nurseryman, lecturer, author and photographer Raymond Evison at a Garden Afternoon Tea on Saturday, June 7 at 2 p.m.
Having just received his 26th Gold Medal at The 2014 Chelsea Flower Show (May 20 - 24), and his display visited by Queen Elizabeth II, Evison's visit to Reynolds will be just one of two U.S. stops he'll be making this summer.
"We're so very pleased that Mr. Evison will be visiting Reynolds talking about and doing a demonstration on Clematis," stated Peg Reynolds, Owner, Reynolds Garden Shop.
Clematis, a favorite of both seasoned and beginner gardeners, is a climbing plant of the buttercup family which bears colorful and attractive features through its flowers, foliage and decorative seeds.
Born of a gardening family, Raymond J. Evison O.B.E. V.M.H. F.I. Hort, began his horticultural career at Treasures of Tenbury Ltd in Shropshire, England at the age of 15. After becoming a Junior Partner, he became a Managing Director (at the age of 23) until 1986 when he moved to Guernsey. During his time at Treasures he developed the Garden Centre, two small museums, the restaurant and achieved 20,000 visitors annually to visit John Treasure's famous Burford House Gardens. Treasures of Tenbury Ltd became a household name for clematis as the result of winning Gold Medals at various provincial flower shows and at the Chelsea Flower Show. Over the years Evison has had many successes at The Chelsea Flower Show. From his time at Treasures at Tenbury Ltd to the present, he has gained 26 Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medals for exhibits of clematis. He has also won 2 Lawrence Medals and 6 William Memorial Medals for exhibits of clematis at Chelsea, as well as other gold medals at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. One of his greatest loves is to search for plants in the wild or in cultivation as his love of plants goes far further than clematis.
