WPGC Radio Personality Tati on Your Radio Joins Arnold Place in Its Efforts to Open a New Safe-Haven for Homeless Teen Girls in 2015

A new transitional home opening In Prince George's County MD 2015 encourages the community to "Clean Out Your Closet" of unwanted clothes and unwanted pairs of shoes for the cause of homeless at-risk unaccompanied teen girls, pregnant teens and HIV

WPGC (www(dot)wpgc(dot)com)  joins Arnold Place, Inc. (www(dot)arnoldplace(dot)org) for a Community Day of Empowerment on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 11am – 4pm on the parking lot of Temple of Praise Church (www(dot)templeofpraise(dot)com) at 700 Southern Avenue, SE, Washington, District of Columbia 20032 where Glen A. Staples is Bishop. WPGC Radio Personality “Tati On Your Radio” of The Joe Clair Morning Show will host. This event encourages the community to come out and support the upcycle fundraising efforts of Arnold Place. Arnold Place is an 11-month young 501(c)(3) dedicated to the cause of homelessness for pregnant teens, troubled teenage girls, and young ladies ages 13-22 affected by HIV|AIDS. Arnold Place will open its first new transitional home in Prince George’s County, MD in 2015.

The community is asked to unify in an effort to collect “One Million” pairs of unwanted shoes as well as “One Million” pounds of unwanted clothes and bring them on this day to support the opening of Arnold Place. This campaign, titled “One Million,” is equivalent to the number of pairs of shoes and pounds of this specific waste needed to fund this project through an upcycle fundraiser. Donations can be any size, any gender and any condition – holes, stains and broken heels – okay. Drive-up service will be available.

"I chose this fundraiser to show how waste can become something great and to show my new nonprofit worthy of receiving monetary donations. This fundraiser engages the community, encourages recycling and reduces acquisition and renovation costs to open a gravely needed safe-haven for these young ladies. More importantly, it brings awareness to our cause of homeless pregnant teens and HIV." "On this day, there will be the components of what will become Arnold Place - a master fitness professional, healthy food and drink samples, on-site testing, access to community services and resources! A hairstylist will show how a wig or weave style is worn for a natural look for ladies who may be experiencing hair loss during an illness. It will be a fun-filled day to support Arnold Place! In return, we want it to be a day to empower the community with resources not typically made available to them."

Tracy Arnold, Visionary, Arnold Place, Inc.

The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Point In Time (PIT) and Housing Inventory Chart (HIC) data for Maryland dated 2007 – 2014 reports there is a grave need for Prince George’s County Continuum of Care rapid re-housing and safe-haven options for homeless unaccompanied youth. The vision of Arnold Place meets the critical need for longer-term housing for this specific homeless population of at-risk unaccompanied youth in Maryland.  Even prior to the doors opening, Arnold Place is making a profound statement in the world of philanthropy.
