Wrapports Announces Video News Network

Wrapports Interactive, LLC Launches with "The Marin Report" in Chicago Sun-Times

Timothy P. Knight, CEO of Wrapports, LLC, the parent company of Chicago Sun-Times and more than 40 media and technology properties, today announced the launch of Wrapports Interactive, LLC. The new entity will produce multimedia video content to enrich the experience for news consumers of Wrapports publications including Chicago Sun-Times, Grid and SPLASH.

On Monday, February 25th, Wrapports Interactive launches with "The Marin Report,'' featuring award-winning broadcast and print journalist Carol Marin. "The Marin Report'' is a fast-paced, smart, sometimes-surprising combination of news, columnist commentary and exclusive Sun-Times reporting. Marin's long-time, award winning producer, Don Moseley, also joins the team of "The Marin Report.''

"The Marin Report" will appear at noon Monday to Friday on the home page of suntimes.com. The 90-second show will be produced in the Sun-Times' television studio. Marin will continue to write an Op-Ed column in the Chicago Sun-Times one day a week.

"The launch of the video news platform is a major element of Wrapports' larger digital strategy," said Tim Knight, CEO of Wrapports, LLC. "The addition of multimedia video, leveraging the breadth and depth of talent at the organization, will bring even more engaging content to our readers and viewers than ever before."

"Carol Marin is one of the most respected journalists in Chicago, both in broadcast and print," said Jim Kirk, Editor-in-Chief of Sun-Times Media. "Launching the Sun-Times' first video program with Carol is a powerful step forward for the organization."

"Joining the Sun-Times in 2004 was one of the great decisions of my professional career,'' Marin said. "Launching this new digital newscast while still doing a political column is the best of both worlds. We are all very excited about the possibilities it brings.''

Brandon Copple, who joined Wrapports in September 2012, and award-winning executive producer Dustin Park will lead Wrapports Interactive. Park is a veteran TV and web-video producer who most recently worked with Kurtis Productions on several news-related programs. The network will tap the many talented journalists in the Sun-Times Media organization and other Wrapports companies for other web-video ventures.

The video platform is being developed for seamless access on mobile, tablet and personal computer.

"The Marin Report'' is the first of several programs in the works through Wrapports Interactive and is the latest in a series of print, web and mobile products by Wrapports to develop content for readers and viewers wherever and whenever they want, especially for busy readers on the go. Recently, the Sun-Times launched the Evening Rush, a daily afternoon email newsletter rounding up the day's news in a fast and engaging way. Wrapports also recently launched Grid, a new weekly digital and print magazine geared to Chicago business readers.
