Write Act Repertory Produces World Premiere Of A Bold New Play

Newly-formed Write Act Eastside Producing Artistic Director John Lant, in association with The Little Company and Artepollo Productions, proudly announce their Inaugural Developmental Project and the World Premiere of The Grass Was Never Greener

This compelling two-act play will have a limited engagement at the new Write Act Eastside in residence at The Richmond Shepard Theatre (formerly The Vineyard Theatre), officially opening Thursday May 20th to Sunday May 30th, 2010, as the company continues to re-furbish the recently acquired venue opening their 2010 Developmental Season.

The Grass Was Never Greener, directed by Lisa K. Wyatt, delves into the life of an agoraphobic man who is taken in after the tragic death of his father. However, the woman who takes him in possesses a bruised soul of her own, which she brings to bear on the man with unrelenting intensity. Their raw and unusual relationship fuels this darkly comedic, yet poignant play.

Producing Artistic Director John Lant invites you to join us for a special evening of introduction to our new raw east coast space, and come meet some of the artists of this exciting new theatre collective adding a venue in NYC after each performance during a Meet and Greet with the cast, crew and members of Write Act Eastside.

"My desire is Write Act Eastside can offer our new east coast members a place of artistic safety, cultivating an environment to challenge themselves and others that they work with. The realized goal of this developmental project is to perpetuate an enriching live theatre experience by being able to perform in a venue we call home. We have been very fortunate that Richmond Shepard has given us an opportunity to build a patron base as we move into our 1st Season here in NYC, as St. Stephen's and Father Jamie Edwards-Acton allows us our chance to continue our 12th season of excellent theatre in LA. With the support of patrons, the artistic and socially conscious communities, our wonderful company members and with these original scripts, I am very proud of the collaboration between all of our artists and the Write Act Rep Staffs that makes a special project like this happen," states Lant.

Mr. Lant is 30-year veteran in the entertainment industry and has been involved in over five hundred television, film, and theatrical productions as a creative entity and/or production manager. This award-winning producer, director, writer, lighting and set designer in New York and Los Angeles has had productions play at Cal Arts, The Odyssey, Ivy Substation, Ricardo Montalban, Powerhouse, Glendale Center, Hollywood Playhouse, Long Beach Playhouse, the Jewel Box Theatres, and Write Act Repertory. Having professionally apprenticed at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, and in New York at the Lincoln Center, Juilliard, Circle Rep, Circle in the Square, WPA, Hudson Guild, LOOM and Ensemble Studio Theatres, he has also participated on several national bus and truck tours including Phantom of the Opera (2 Tours), Evita, Singin' in the Rain, One Mo' Time, Gypsy, The Three Musketeers, with Connecticut Ballet, and Aeros.
