Write-in Candidates Eligible for the 2010 Goodreads Choice Awards

The top five write-in candidates in 23 Goodreads Choice Awards categories will become Official Nominees for 2010

Goodreads is proud to announce that on Monday, December 20, the top five write-in candidates in 23 Goodreads Choice Awards categories will become Official Nominees for 2010. These additional nominees will deepen the pool of talent represented by the Goodreads Choice Awards and further represent the unique "reader's choice" spirit behind Goodreads' celebration of books. The new nominees will be added to the polls for the final ten days of voting.

More than 100,000 votes have been cast so far. In each category, voters may write-in a candidate of their choosing or select one of the 15 books that were nominated by statistical analysis of the 47 million books added, rated, and reviewed on the site this year. We examined the popularity and average rating of all books published in 2010. As of December 13, readers have placed write-in votes for more than 700 books in the Favorite Book of 2010 category, 300 books in the Fiction category, 200 books in the Nonfiction category, and hundreds more in the other categories.

Goodreads launched the second annual Goodreads Choice Awards on December 1, 2010. Brought to you by Readerâ„¢ Digital Book by Sony www.sony.com/reader, the 2010 Choice Awards reflect what book lovers are really reading. Voting will continue throughout the month. Winners will be announced in the January Goodreads newsletter, which sends to our membership of 4 million readers.

The Choice Awards will select the Favorite Book of 2010. We have a wide array of reading genres represented: Fiction, Mystery & Thriller, Fantasy, Paranormal Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Historical Fiction, Graphic Novels & Comics, Poetry, Nonfiction, History & Biography, Memoir & Autobiography, Humor, Young Adult Fiction, Young Adult Fantasy, Middle Grade & Children's, and Picture Books. We also have a few fun categories: Cover Art, Favorite Hero & Heroine, and Debut Author. Finally, we have a special category for Goodreads Authors, who are published authors who have joined the site to connect with their fans.
