WSDOT and Port of Moses Lake Sign Agreement to Move Forward with Construction of Rail Project

The Washington State Department of Transportation and the Port of Moses Lake have signed an agreement to begin construction of Segment 2 of the Northern Columbia Basin Railroad Project

OLYMPIA, WASH. - Washington State Department of Transportation officials have indicated to Western Rail News that the agency has signed an agreement with the Port of Moses Lake to release approximately $2 million in state funding to the Port to begin construction of Segment 2 of the Northern Columbia Basin Railroad Project.

According to WSDOT officials, this $2 million in funding from the Washington State Legislature will extend the existing track in Moses Lake with the construction of approximately 3 miles of new track to industrial property and businesses located on the east side of the Port of Moses Lake's industrial park and will improve the State's freight rail system by providing a link to rail customers who are located at Grant County International Airport and who do not have access to rail. It is anticipated that the excavation and construction work shall begin immediately and will be completed by June 30, 2012.
