XBOSoft Releases Its 2012 Scrum Testing Survey
Online, May 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - XBOSoft, a fast growing software quality assurance services company, announced today that it has released its 2012 Scrum Testing Survey, on the state of testing in Scrum teams.
From February to April 2012 XBOSoft conducted a survey on the state of testing in Scrum development teams with the objective to determine the state of testing in Scrum teams, to answer the question if they still use dedicated testers in their Scrum teams, and when they do, if they also experience an expansion of the traditional testing role into a broader QA role with more or different responsibilities.
"With more development teams moving towards agile development processes, and Scrum in particular, the role of test is evolving." said Phil Lew, CEO of XBOSoft. "Where some might argue that there is no need for dedicated testers in a Scrum team, with each sprint, features and functions continue to accumulate and so does the need for more efficient regression and integration testing which lies outside of typical unit testing that developers may be accustomed to."
Survey results indicated that most of the respondents do have dedicated QA in their Scrum teams. Jan Princen, managing director XBOSoft, said. "In more traditional development processes testing was often seen as an activity at the end. What we see happening in agile teams is that testing and the persons responsible for testing are moving both upstream and downstream, and are working in close cooperation with end users as well as product management."
