Xelas Energy Management (XEM) Product Portfolio Improved for IEC 61850 Standards

Xelas Energy Software Announces Availability of Seamless Smart Grid Management Software XEM Version 2

Today, at the European Utility Week 2013 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Xelas Energy Software, a division of Xelas Software, announced the immediate availability of the next version of the Xelas Energy Management (XEM) product portfolio, now conformant to Edition 2 of the IEC 61850 standards.

This new generation of XEM (Xelas Energy Management) provides all tools necessary for the development, automated testing and verification of IEC 61850 clients and servers. XEM supports the complete set of IEC 61850 standard defined operations. Mappings are provided for substation management, hydro, distributed energy resources (DER) and for the aligned IEC 61400 wind power standard.

In addition, the Xelas Energy Management (XEM) product portfolio offers seamless integration with non-61850 equipment and applications through the XEM Dynamic Integration Framework. The software includes a powerful Java J2EE Web interface and fully automated IEC 61850 testsuite, and the entire Xelas Energy Software solution can be easily configured with scripts. All data is stored persistently in RDBM, and therefore integrates Operations Technology (OT) and back office Information Technology (IT) architectures.

"Smart Grid equipment vendors, system integrators and smart grid operators will be pleased with the value provided by this second version of the Xelas Energy Management (XEM) portfolio," said Anton van der Burgt, Vice President for Xelas Energy Software. "This version supports the IEC 61850 Edition 2 specifications, allows our customers to easily add IEC61850 communication to their applications and integrate with existing legacy devices. At Xelas Energy Software we offer seamless smart grid operations and we also support communities starting their own micro grids."

This second XEM version is an update driven by customer feedback to support IEC 61850 Edition 2 and is part of Xelas Energy Software's commitment to deliver the latest product updates necessary to keep pace with the rapidly changing smart grid market.

For over twenty five years, Xelas Software products have successfully delivered cornerstone functionality to standards based network management, mediation and integration projects for telecom, aviation and messaging environments. Xelas Energy Software, a division of Xelas Software, applies this proven technology to IEC based energy network management.
