Yahoo Elevates Video And Image Quality With Getty

Yahoo on the verge of beautifying its image and video gallery recently has entered into a partnership with Getty images, to extract professional images and clips from the site.

To improve its search engine's visual appeal, Yahoo has entered into an alliance with the stock image agency, Getty Images to include more professional images in its search results. Yahoo believes that this partnership will help the company to elevate their image and video quality, and will attract a large number of audiences who take interest in accumulating beautiful and high quality images for various purposes.

With this collaboration, when a visitor searches for an image in the Yahoo search engine, for instance of "The Statue of Liberty", he / she will see an enlarged image of the statue taken by Getty professionals along with a number of petty thumbnails, that Yahoo has collected from various other sites. The visitors will also notice pop ups on some images for enhanced viewing, like, full screen view or video preview by hovering over the mouse on the image provided by the agency, said a source. It also mentioned that the function will also be compatible for mobile viewing.

Sources also reveal that, initially Yahoo will enable the users to access around 20,000 new photographs each day, which the site fetches from the agency, and will let them search for the images related to the latest stories, within some moments of their appearing in the agency gallery. The collaboration will also enable the users to filter their searches for latest and recent images, and all the high quality images and videos will be tagged as HQ and HD respectively.

Undoubtedly, this comprehensive partnership between the two companies will provide the users with a whole new experience. The companies had also worked together back in 2008, when they came forward to provide the Getty platform to the Flicker photographers so as to get a public exposure. However, the collaboration taken place during that time did not work out successfully. Recent reports also reveal that Yahoo is mulling over the idea of handing over its search business entirely to Microsoft.
