Yorkshire Investors Assure Bright Green Future For Revitalised Kitchen Business

The successful team behind West Yorkshire's Carleton Furniture Group has acquired a new business specialising in environmentally-sustainable kitchen production.

Peter Holdsworth, David Wood and Steven Jones have overseen growth of more than 15% year on year at Pontefract-based Carleton Furniture.

Now they intend to bring their successful formula to Chamois Eco-Kitchens after acquiring the brand and assets, including offices and a showroom in Wolverhampton.

Chamois Eco-Kitchens was founded in 1991 and grew to provide a valued service to customers, mainly in the housing sector, throughout the Midlands.

The impact of the recession forced Chamois into administration in 2010 but the owners of Carleton Furniture Group saw the potential in the brand and stepped in to maintain it.

Director David Wood says: "Chamois Eco-Kitchens is a good fit with our business and will give us better geographical reach into the Midlands and central UK.

"We intend to invest in the product and to bring the strength of our successful Carleton Furniture Group of companies to support growth and expansion of Chamois over the coming years.

"Chamois was a pioneer in the production of high quality environmentally sustainable kitchen furniture and we intend to build on that heritage.

"Around 80% of the materials used in Chamois production are recycled timber, which is significantly higher than rival manufacturers.

"Minimising environmental impact is a major concern for our business and for Chamois' customers, which are predominantly in the social housing sector."

Six staff will work at the Wolverhampton base of the business and more employees will be taken on as the company expands.

Chamois' co-founder Andrew Jones-Dutt has agreed to stay on as Divisional Director, leading the sales, estimation and surveying team from its Wolverhampton office and showroom.

Mr Jones-Dutt says: "Chamois' environmental track record has been based on my personal commitment to working in the most sustainable way we can with raw materials and in our production processes.

"We've been working in an environmentally sustainable way since 1991 and were the first UK kitchen company to make cabinets solely from recycled timber panels.

"I am pleased that we will be able to continue to build on these principles and offer our customers a truly environmentally-friendly choice of products for their developments and refurbishments."
