Bullied New York bus monitor pays it forward by launching her own anti bullying foundation.
Online, August 19, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Karen Klein, the globally recognized bus monitor from upstate New York has now launched her own charity called the Karen Klein Anti-Bullying Foundation. The aim is to collectively help develop resolutions for this global epidemic one state, then one country at a time. The first phase of her newly formed foundation will be a road trip called the No Bully Tour that will canvas America beginning in Myrtle Beach, SC on October 5th 2012. The tour will visit youth organizations, grade schools, camps & other supportive venues to spread its anti-bully messages. It is a free concert given by various musical artists which address the many components of bullying. After each event, attendees will be able to meet & greet artists, ask questions related to bullying and leave with a supportive CD inspiring them to hold their heads up in the face of adversity. In conjunction with the tour, an initiative is already in place to assist CEC District 8 and 38 New York City elementary and middle schools in implementing their anti-bullying programs in the Bronx.
Karen chose October since it is now widely known as the Pacer Center's anti-bullying prevention month (http://www.pacer.org/bullying). The Karen Klein Anti-Bullying Foundation, which can be found at www.giveback.org/KarenKlein, has partnered with several major contributors. The first is the world renowned philanthropist and winner of Oprah's Big Give show, Stephen Paletta, (the creator of the Give Back Foundation). The second is Chris Surrey of the New York based company PaintBox Labs and Project54Tour. Additionally Karen has also partnered with Logan West (Miss Teen USA 2012) from the national Miss Universe Organization and her Bully Proof anti-bullying initiative (http://www.stompingoutbullying.com/index.html). It is a five-step program that aims to empower student leaders to help prevent bullying. One of their goals is to also help empower young girls whose self-esteem is being challenged in school by their weight, outward appearance, and other issues that young women feel self-conscience about. Together, they will create educational content on the subject of bullying, provide resources to those organizations in need of help, and assist in developing anti-bullying programs in schools across America.
So many around the world have been anxious to find out what the bullied grandmother was going to do with the excess of $700,000 donated on her behalf from over 80 different countries. "My foundation is not about reinventing the wheel. The intent is to utilize this money to support great organizations that are already fighting the fight against bullying. Along with Chris Surrey and Project54Tour, we will develop some new material and create new events that will take the anti-bullying movement further than ever", explains Karen Klein.
Musical artists Mr. JNFE, Adam Web, Torrey Mercer, NATEKid, Marckel Robinson, Still Saffire and Testimony are amongst the myriad of performers across North America that will take part in the traveling PSA/music tours. Already, the anti-bullying video created by one of the touring members, NATEKid, has garnered the attention of celebrities via Twitter. Such supporters like Whoopi Goldberg, Malia Obama, Rosario Dawson, Samuel L. Jackson, Lance Bass, Brian McKnight, Nigel Lythgoe, Chris Cuomo and dozens more have retweeted the video which can subsequently be found on www.nobullytour.com.
Media is handled by the Just Not Famous Enough PR firm, a New York based agency which specializes in developing strategic PR initiatives, interactive advertising campaigns, and national music tours. JNFE has historically appropriated successful projects for major brands which has allowed for cutting edge exposure and test marketing platforms for both emerging and established entities.
