Online, May 18, 2010 (Newswire.com) - In less than a year Leeds based internet site Clubbz.com has established itself as the UK's leading sports and hobbies website,attracting over 10,000 clubs and groups to it's free and easy to use search directory with hundreds more joining every week!

Just 12 months ago a group of Leeds web developers, frustrated by the lack of a decent website listing local sports and hobbies came up with the idea of providing a totally free site for local clubs and groups. Organisations could use the site to promote themselves to new members and gain additional publicity for their news and forthcoming events.

The dream was to create a simple website which allowed you to type in your postcode and with just one click view hundreds of clubs within travelling distance of your address. One more click would list news and events taking place in your area, whether it be the local rugby club's summer fair, free coaching for kids at the local tennis club or the latest production at the local theatre company. The aim was to encourage more people to get involved whilst at the same time giving clubs the opportunity to increase membership, fill empty seats at events and provide additional services to members.

Clubbz now covers over 400 different interests and caters for clubs and groups of all types from Football and Rugby to Amateur Radio, Astronomy and even Morris Dancing. Finding a new activity for the family is simple, with thousands of people each day using the website to find something for themselves or their kids to get involved in.

Clubbz founder Rob Yorke stated that whilst there are hundreds of thousands of sport groups, clubs and associations in the UK, there hasn't been a central resource until now. Small clubs and groups are often poorly funded but now have the opportunity to create a free Clubbz website or listing and let the local community see just what they have to offer.
