Young, Genre-Bending Pittsburgh Band Set to Release Debut EP
Online, October 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Following the success of their eponymous demo, Son of the State is preparing for the November 16th release of their debut album. The EP, Senioritis, contains six original songs, and a live, acoustic version of the track "Burnt". The album's first single, "Lights", is now available at all digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon. Along with "30 Minutes" and "Burnt", the single is in steady rotation on the college-radio circuit.
Senioritis was recorded at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh.
Generally, SOTS defies record store categorization by combining elements of pop, alt, and rock throughout the disc. This album enhances those sounds and extends into previously unexplored territory. Critical comparisons have even drawn to Jimmy Eat World, American Hi-Fi, and Yellowcard.
The band plans a 2011 tour in support of the release, with stops scheduled throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The group has developed a strong following as openers for I Am Ghost and Modern Day Escape, festival performances in West Virginia, and on the back of successful headlining shows in their native Western Pennsylvania.
Catch Senioritis early: the band is offering select, complimentary tracks from the new EP to anyone signing up on their Myspace page or directly at the SOTS website.
This is one EP you don't want to miss.
