YouNow & Indaba Music Begin the Search to Find the Best Singer/Songwriter on the Web

Online, December 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - YouNow and Indaba Music are hunting for the Best Singer/Songwriter on the web, starting December 16, 2011 (6:00PM - 8:00PM EST) on http://younow.com/music. With a total prize pool of over $5,000 at stake, courtesy of YouNow, Randy Jones, the original cowboy and founding member of the Village People, and host Willie Wisely, composer of "Tromeo & Juliet", "Scooby Doo 2", will decide the fate of talented up and coming musicians competing to be best on the web.

YouNow's live online and social music contest is the first of its kind and will showcase its valuable real time social engagement capabilities that video-sharing and other streaming platforms can not offer. How will YouNow pull off a live internet equivalent of American Idol? Through a proprietary collaborative live streaming technology, with audience voting "Likes" and "Dislikes" in real time. The platform will allow users to chat with others watching the contest, the performers, and the judges. The viewers' votes will help determine who moves on to the finals.

Starting this Friday, the top 3 performers of each weekly contest will win a spot in the finals, set to take place on January 20, 2012. The final 9 will be bringing their A-game for thousands of viewers to vote on, with a grand prize of $2,000 awarded to the champion.

All Qualifiers will be held from 5-7pm EST (10pm-12am GMT).
