New releases from ANANTAYA Decor in honor of The Jaipur Literature Festival, Asia's largest gathering of its' kind, the 'Zild' collection traces developments in book-binding and the popularization of decorative libraries in a series of curated products for book lovers.

'Zild' craft of book-binding likely originated in India from where it was carried to Persia, Afghanistan, Iran and China by Buddhist monks. The word 'Zild' itself means 'binding' in the Arabic language, whose patterns and techniques are continued by traditional book artisans in Delhi. Combining the toughness of leather and lightness of fabric to protect books, 'Zild' craft looks beautiful as well as elegant.

The advent of gold block printing on bookbinder's leather in the nineteenth century popularized decorative protective covers for valued books. In the twenty-first century the ZILD product line incorporates red, black, brown and green saddle leather bindings stamped by Sanganer block printers in gold with Victorian filigree designs to protect I-pads, passports and other important items.
