ZISBOOMBAH.COM ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ITS FIRST BETA PRODUCT
AN INNOVATIVE KIDS DINNER PLANNING TOOL!
Zisboombah.com is an innovative online approach to engaging children in planning dinner and alerting their parents to the dinner, it's nutritional value and healthy recipes.
Denver, CO, October 15, 2009 - Zisboombah.com is the first Web site of its kind that engages and empowers kids to solve the one question all parents cringe at - "What's for dinner?" The site, launched earlier this week, features a drag and drop meal-planning tool called "Pick Chow" that allows children to create a well-balanced meal by choosing foods from each of the recommended food groups and then sending it to their parent for approval. If the parent approves the meal, the site then offers healthy recipes and nutritional tips in an effort to help make dinner planning easier and will soon offer coupons to save families time and money.
The site aims to promote not only healthy lifestyles, but to usher in the return of family interaction at the dinner table. Throughout the past decade, institutions like the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse have conducted studies that show children who regularly eat dinner with their families are less likely to try drugs and alcohol. Similar studies have shown the children from families who engage in family dinners do better in school and have more self-confidence. "We all know we are reaching serious levels of obesity and we want to be part of the momentum that guides children and their parents in making healthy choices. By starting early our tool PickChow! provides children a sense of control and competency in making healthy food decisions resulting in the chance of forming lifelong habits," said Karen Laszlo, founder of ZisBoomBah.com. The Parent Dashboard, which offers adults a place to manage their families' meals, recipes, coupons (coming soon) and time-saving tips, also provides a place to communicate with their children in a safe, online environment. Parents can view a series of video clips featuring our nutritionist, Lisa Lanzano, MS. RD. from Boulder CO, so that they can learn quickly about the value of food and how a healthy relationship with food is critical.
Parents can feel confident that their children are planning safe and nutritionally sound meal plans with the guidance of an extremely knowledgeable staff. Experts in nutrition, exercise physiology, childhood obesity and meal production provide nutritional information about all the foods featured throughout the site. Site mascots Zis, Boom and Bah - a trio of six-legged characters - also accompany children on their healthy lifestyle journey.
All this comes wrapped in an engaging and entertaining environment packed with variety. In addition to "Pick Chow!," the children's page features downloadable activity sheets and games, videos, messaging and "Meal of the Week," which features one child's exceptional approved meal each week.
Many of the advanced features are available only with a ZisBoomBah account so parents are encouraged to register their children. According to Laszlo, Internet safety is a major priority during development and continued growth of the site. Parents must approve their child's account and any available contacts before they are allowed to use the messaging feature of the site. The team at ZisBoomBah focuses on children first with the hopes of helping families come together to build healthy, lasting habits for children.
