Zonisphere to Co-Produce Latino Film Sojourner's Lament
New York-based entertainment company Zonisphere Media Group today announced it will partner with film director and screenwriter Cesar Vargas to co-produce the much-anticipated film Sojourner's Lament.
Online, January 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Quickly positioning itself as the authority in New York's independent and underground entertainment scene, Zonisphere will be closely involved with every aspect of developing Sojourner's Lament including, but not limited to casting, photography, editing and scoring. The entertainment company's founder and CEO Kaydean Phillips and the rest of the Zonisphere team are no newcomers to the film industry as they have produced, directed and scored other independent projects in the past in the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and the United States. "It is with so much enthusiasm and pride that we can be a part of developing this movie with Cesar Vargas. It is a project that hits close to home on many levels. I relate to it as an independent project, I relate to its beautiful artistic expression and I relate to it as first generation immigrant myself. This is one of those 'this was made for me' projects that we dream of doing at least once in our careers and I cant wait to present it", stated Kaydean.
Cesar Vargas' Sojourner's Lament is already receiving substantial media attention and even financial assistance from avid supporters who want to see the project become a reality as it uniquely and rarely depicts the harsh reality of Latinos in America. "I know this will sound cliche, but working with Zonisphere and Kaydean has been a dream come true. I was waiting for someone to be visionary enough to realize where I was coming from with Sojourner's Lament and understand it with such surgical precision. I offered a role to Zonisphere's recording artist Janid, she accepted it and sent the script to Kaydean. They took no time in offering me help. I mean with actions to back it up, not just well wishes. It is truly a blessing to work with such talented folks. As soon as met them I immediately felt like I was in my zone with such ridiculously talented, intelligent, visionary and humble creative people," commented Cesar Vargas.
A film that asks every immigrant -Latino or not- how much of your heritage and culture do you willingly hold on to, Sojourner's Lament will feature a diverse cast of established and rising actors including Janid Ortiz, Paola Cancelleiri, Lance Rios, Jadil Laboy, Rolando Ortiz, Andres Troncoso.
Sojourner's Lament is currently in production and will be released in summer 2011.
