However, children with developmental disabilities, such as autism (ASD) and hearing loss, have difficulty with understanding speech in noise. A team led by speech-language pathologist and Smarty Ears CEO Barbara Fernandes has translated previously existing research to create an innovative listening training system to ameliorate children's difficulty understanding speech in noisy conditions.
