Public Voting for first of five annual $100,000 RobotArt.org contests opens today. Over a dozen artist/robot teams from around the world have submitted artwork created entirely by robots. The styles vary from abstract, to painterly, to representational. Multiple robots attempted portraiture with varying results. The only major rule was that all marks on each canvas be entirely made by a robot.

Washington DC Artist Pindar Van Arman to speak at TEDxFoggyBottom April 23rd. His talk will describe how he has attempted to capture his creativity in algorithms and teach those algorithms to his painting robots.
