Swimming 28.5 miles around the Island of Manhattan isn't easy - but Bergman made it look that way this past Saturday.

On this July 14, 22-year-old open-water swimmer Abby Bergman will enter the Hudson River to solo swim 28.5 miles around Manhattan Island.

This Friday evening, six intrepid female marathon swimmers, representing the 7 Sisters Colleges, will be swimming from Palos Verdes to Catalina Island and back: a relay swim of over 40 miles. The goal? To inspire women everywhere to pursue their dreams.

Culver City open water swimmer and City of Los Angeles Open Water Lifeguard Abby Bergman, age 20, will be swimming the Catalina Channel this Sunday evening, July 24th to the tip of Palos Verdes (20+ miles). Bergman, is a Smith College junior, studying neuroscience as a premed student. Bergman, a passionate open water swimmer, is booked to swim the English Channel next summer 2017.
