Ever since the 2014 documentary Alive Inside premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the audience award for best documentary, there has been talk about the possibility that listening to music can awaken memories in dementia patients. The film features the work of Dan Cohen, MSW, whose nonprofit organization Music & Memory, has help the quality of life for patients by giving them an iPod filled with their music -- a personalized playlist.
