On Tuesday, March 8, the United States Maritime Resource Center (USMRC) held a senior-level crisis management exercise using its suite of ship simulators to explore the response and coordination actions required by merchant vessels called in to assist in a rescue at sea of unsafe migration activities. The exercise was held in concert with the U.S. Department of State - Overseas Security Advisory Council's (OSAC) Maritime Security Working Group.

The United States Maritime Resource Center (USMRC) in Middletown, R.I., and its partner, Cybrex LLC, a maritime cyber assessment and testing firm in Hampton Roads, Va., have partnered with a number of leading maritime industry stakeholders in the development of its Maritime Cyber Assurance research program.

International ship classification society ClassNK has signed a memorandum of understanding to work with USMRC to carry out joint research and development activities for the maritime industry.
